Prozac (fluoxetine) for Anxiety and Stress: Initially, my doctor started me out on 20mg, but increased the dosage to 30mg after I complained of occassional bouts of anxiety. I started the medication about six months ago. I'm 23 and not on any additional medication. Now, I feel like I can balance college, family and work. I'm not experiencing anxiety and panic attacks like I was prior to the Prozac. The first three weeks of the medication involved sick feelings, but I'm glad that I stuck with it. I also started to visit with a psychologist once a month. This has been very beneficial. Makes me wonder why I struggled with this for years before getting help.

Caused involuntary muscle spasms, difficulty speaking, walking, etc. Even looked like I had a stroke. I tapered off it shortly after and tried other drugs to help with anxiety, depression and PMDD. I have since come back to Prozac because it works well for me as long as I make sure not to take tramadol or other drugs that can interact with it. I experience weight loss with this drug. Have tons of energy and sleep well at night.

I've been taking it for years now and without taking it, I am a mess from worrying about whats going to happen the next day, to stressing about the future. I will worry about something over, and over, and over again obsessively, not being able to control it, no matter how bad I want to. Prozac clears my mind completely so that when I do think of a thought, it just goes away after that thought. No more over worrying or stressing in any such matter. Overall it made me a more happier person.

(I know..a lot of conditions) but this is the best medicine so far out of the 48 others I have tried the last 6 months. The first few days I felt a little manic on it...very happy and a hard time sleeping but today, day 5 I feel more balanced and the only side effects I am experiencing is nausea, some dizziness and diarrhea but that should go away within the next week. I look forward to going back to college, spending time with my kids and enjoying life without my ups and downs, lack of energy and no desire to do anything. Prozac has been a God send to me.

It is like the "voice" that continues to tell me I am too fat and that all the "bad" things in life would be better if only I were thinner, has weakened. I was Agoraphobic for 22 years before my doctor discovered Prozac helped with Panic attacks. I started it and in a week I was walking out of my house and greeting my neighbors! I started working and doing things I never dreamed I could do. Then in 2005 my insurance changed to another Pharmaceutical plan and you could take generics or pay full price for the brand name. Unfortunately the generic did not do the same thing as the brand. Prozac price has risen to $403.65 for 3 months and unfortunately I cannot afford this.

This medication does stop the weepiness and severe irritability that I suffer, however it made me feel "nothing" rather than good. Additionally, the side effects that I suffer on Prozac are not worth the marginal lack of hopeless feelings. I felt nauseous, hollow, scattered and my libido completely vanished. This led to marital stress, so I went off of it on my own. I think it is the wrong chemical for my type of brain chemistry or depression.
